Vastu For Pooja Room


While designing a house one should take care of Pooja Room. This is only place in a home from where all positive energies flows in the entire house and makes every one feeling relaxed and fully charged. Now days due to space constraints people have started ignoring the importance of Pooja Room in a house. But this should not be done. We should make a place for GOD for ourselves, our family and everyone whom we love.

By creating a room for worshiping we are creating a space where we get charged with positive vibrations every morning which enlightens our mind, soul and our whole body and thus helps in increasing our work efficiency. It also helps in bringing progress, peace and prosperity in our lives.

This room should be designed very carefully as if placed in a wrong direction it will not effect our lives or our body in any way and we will not feel any positive energy flowing in the air. The best direction for a Pooja room is always North-East corner. If not possible it can be designed in North or East corner also. Other tips related to Pooja Room vastu are discussed below:
  • While worshiping one should always face North or East direction.
  • No idols should be placed in worship room. But if one places them then they should they should not be less than 2" and not more than 9".
  • Idols should always be placed in east or west direction. They should never be placed facing North or South. Neither they should face each other.
  • A Pooja Room should never be placed in a bedroom or on a wall that is adjacent to the bathroom.
  • Lamp-stand should be placed in the South-East corner of the Pooja ghar.
  • The best direction for the doors and windows of the Pooja room are North or East. There should not be any door closer.
  • The doors and windows should not open or close automatically.
  • The Agnikund should be in the South-East direction and the person offering the fire should face east while doing so.
  • The color of the walls of the pooja room should be light yellow, white, or light blue.
  • The flooring must be of off white or marble.
  • One must not enter the pooja room without taking the bath.

Things to be avoided for pooja room according to vastu
  • There should not be any bathroom above, below or adjacent the Pooja ghar.
  • Pooja ghar should never be made in bedroom.
  • In Pooja ghar no idol should be in the desecrated form.
  • Pooja ghar should never be made above the gas stove or a sink or any electronic appliances.
  • Items such as jewelry or money should never be kept hidden in the pooja room.
